Build your first funnel

A funnel in Wireslate is a chain of connected steps: where people come from, where they land, and what they do. Here's how to build one.

1. Open the component library#

Click Components in the left toolbar. The library contains ready-made funnel steps organized in five categories: Traffic, Pages, Actions, Emails, and Costs. See The component library for the full list.

2. Add steps to the canvas#

  • Drag and drop a component onto the canvas, or click it to place it at the center of your view
  • On phones and tablets, tap a component to add it

A simple starter funnel might be: a traffic source (like Meta Paid), a landing page, a checkout page, and a purchase.

3. Connect your steps#

Hover over a step and drag from its connection handle to the next step. The connection represents people moving from one step to the next, and it's where you'll set conversion rates later.

You can branch too. One traffic source can feed several pages, and several sources can feed one page. Wireslate handles parallel paths and adds the numbers up correctly.

4. Add your numbers#

Click a step to edit its metrics: the number of People entering (for traffic sources), conversion rates on connections, and costs and revenue on steps. The whole calculation flows automatically downstream. This is the heart of Wireslate, so it has its own guide: Add metrics to your funnel.

5. Watch the Funnel Summary#

The dock at the bottom of the canvas shows your funnel's totals live: revenue, costs, and net profit. See The Funnel Summary.

Moving around the canvas#

  • Pan by dragging the empty canvas
  • Zoom with your trackpad, mouse wheel, or the zoom bar in the bottom-right corner
  • The mini-map in the corner helps you navigate big boards
  • Undo and redo from the toolbar or with Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd on Mac)

Saving#

Click Save in the top toolbar or press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac). Wireslate also protects you from conflicting edits when a board is open in more than one place; see Editing together.
