Wireslate's component library covers the steps most funnels use. When your funnel has something the library doesn't, use a Custom component and make it your own.
The Custom components#
You'll find one in each category of the component library:
- Custom Traffic Source - an entry point that isn't a listed channel
- Custom Page - a page that isn't in the library
- Custom Step - any step in the middle of your funnel that isn't a page, action, or email
- Custom Conversion - an outcome that isn't a listed action
- Custom Email - an email that doesn't fit the standard types
- Custom Cost - an operational cost of your own
Rename any of them by clicking the label, exactly like any other step. They behave like normal components: they pass people through, connect to anything, and appear in your Funnel Summary.
Custom Step is the flexible one. It simulates just like a Custom Page and starts with no cost or revenue, so it's the right choice for a stage that's simply "something happens here" - a manual review, a waiting period, a call with your team, an offline step.
Choosing an icon#
Every Custom component starts with placeholder artwork. Hover the step's icon on the canvas and a small control pill appears with three options:
- Choose from icon library - 65 icons built into Wireslate, grouped by theme: Triggers & flow, Data & content, Communication, AI & technology, People & business, Commerce & logistics, Web & analytics, and Outcomes & operations. Search by name or by what the icon is for
- Upload your own icon - your logo, a product shot, a tool's icon. Once one is set, this becomes Replace icon
- Reset custom icon - back to the default artwork at any time
On a step with no icon yet, you'll also see a Choose icon link below it as a shortcut.
Icons render at the same square size in every category, so a row of Custom steps stays visually tidy next to the built-in components.
Long names#
Custom step labels have a fixed footprint on the canvas. A long name is shortened visually so it doesn't stretch the step or push your layout around - the full text is still there, and still editable, whenever you click into it.
Custom components and AI#
There's a deliberate difference between the two AI features:
- Generating a funnel or scenario never uses Custom components. AI builds with the real library so your steps stay meaningful and comparable
- Importing does use them, because your source may contain steps Wireslate has no equivalent for. Rather than force a bad match, AI uses Custom Traffic Source or Custom Step, keeps your original label, and picks a fitting icon from the library
If AI picks an icon you don't like, change it the same way you would any other Custom component.
