AI-ready Markdown#
AI-ready Markdown is a single .wireslate.md file that explains your canvas in a structured, readable way. You can attach it to an AI chat, paste its contents into a conversation, or place it in a project for a coding agent to read. After that, ask the AI whatever you need - for example, to explain the funnel, challenge its assumptions, suggest improvements, or help implement it.
Wireslate adds a short introduction explaining how whiteboards, variants, scenarios, funnel steps, connections, assumptions, and calculated projections work. The rest of the file comes directly from your canvas. It is deterministic rather than rewritten by AI.
Choose what to include#
Open Export, then choose one of the options under AI-ready Markdown:
- Current Variant & Scenario gives the AI focused context for exactly what you're viewing. Use this when you want to discuss or implement one version of the funnel
- All Variants & Scenarios describes the complete whiteboard. Use this when you want the AI to compare alternatives, evaluate multiple sets of assumptions, or understand the whole project
The current export marks which Variant and Scenario are active. The complete export includes each Variant's structure once, followed by all of its Scenarios.
What the file describes#
The Markdown includes:
- Funnel steps, their labels, component types, page paths, IDs, and canvas positions
- The authoritative connections between steps
- User-entered people, conversion rates, costs, and revenue assumptions
- Wireslate's calculated people, conversions, costs, revenue, net result, and other projections
- Sticky notes, text, headings, rectangles, visual arrows, website links, YouTube videos, social previews, uploaded images, and page screenshots
- Visible Wireslate AI insights attached to the included Variants or Scenarios
- Warnings for things like invalid links, unsupported elements, cycles, or unavailable calculations
Configured assumptions and calculated projections are kept in separate sections so the AI does not mistake an estimate for observed performance.
Wireslate does not currently save a currency setting on the canvas. Monetary values are therefore exported as plain numbers and the file explicitly says that the currency is unspecified.
Images and private information#
The Markdown stays small enough to use as text, so it does not embed image bytes. Images, screenshots, uploaded icons, videos, and social previews are represented by safe details such as their title, alt text, source page, file type, dimensions, and whether an asset is present.
Private storage locations, temporary signed links, internal organization details, AI provider information, and runtime data are never included. Comment pins and their conversations are also excluded.
Private and local#
The file is created in your browser from the whiteboard you already have open:
- Nothing is sent to an AI provider while exporting
- No AI credit is used
- No upload or server-side conversion is needed
- Your latest committed changes in the open canvas are included, even if autosave has not run yet
Editors, Commenters, and Viewers who can open the authenticated whiteboard can download the Markdown. It is not offered to anonymous visitors on a public link.
Beautiful PNG#
A ready-to-share framed image, no setup needed. Your board is composed on a branded gradient backdrop with:
- Your whiteboard's name and the active variant and scenario
- The scenario's Revenue, Cost, and Net, plus People % and total conversions
- Light and dark versions that match your current theme
Simple PNG, JPG, and PDF#
Straight captures of your canvas:
- Simple PNG for a crisp image with everything as you see it
- Simple JPG for a smaller file
- Simple PDF for print or formal documents
Visual exports capture the canvas at full detail regardless of zoom, including images, page previews, YouTube thumbnails, and icons. Comment pins and empty-state hints are excluded automatically, so you never need to tidy before exporting.
Wireslate JSON backup#
Wireslate also keeps a separate JSON backup and re-import workflow, available through the keyboard shortcuts in Keyboard shortcuts. That JSON is for transferring a whiteboard back into Wireslate. AI-ready Markdown is the readable semantic description intended for external AI tools.
Tips#
- Choose Current Variant & Scenario when you want a shorter, focused AI conversation
- Choose All Variants & Scenarios when comparison and full project context matter
- Tell the AI what outcome you want after giving it the file; the export intentionally does not prescribe a particular tool or task
- Add clear labels, page paths, and notes on the canvas before exporting when the implementation details matter
- Use View settings to simplify a visual export; view settings do not remove semantic content from AI-ready Markdown
- Visual exports reflect the active scenario, so switch to the one you want to show first
