Already have your funnel somewhere else? Instead of rebuilding it step by step, let AI read what you have and turn it into a working Wireslate funnel.
Click Import in the top toolbar and pick where your funnel is coming from. Each option opens the import window on the right tab, so you can go straight to choosing your file.
What you can import#
From spreadsheet#
A CSV or XLSX file. Great for step lists, metrics, and journey tables - the kind of sheet where each row is a step of your funnel.
Wireslate finds your header row automatically, so you don't need to tell it which row holds the column names. You'll see a preview with the detected header highlighted before you import.
For the best results, keep one clear header row near the top (something like Step, Revenue, Cost, People) and one funnel step per row.
From JSON#
Any JSON file. Great for n8n, Zapier, Make, and other workflow exports - if a tool can export its flow as JSON, Wireslate can usually make sense of it.
You don't need to clean the file up first. Wireslate reads the names, types, values, and connections, and skips the parts that don't describe your funnel.
From Screenshot or Photo#
A PNG, JPEG, or WebP image. Take a screenshot from any tool like Miro, FigJam, Whimsical, or a slide - or even a photo of a funnel you sketched on paper.
AI reads the shapes, labels, and arrows and rebuilds the funnel semantically, keeping the layout roughly where you drew it. It recreates the *meaning* of your diagram in Wireslate components, not the original styling.
How importing works#
- Click Import and choose your source
- Pick your file. Wireslate reads it right there in your browser and shows you a preview
- Add helpful context if you want (optional) - a sentence explaining what the funnel is, or clarifying an unusual label or metric
- Click Create imported Variant
The window closes and the import runs in the background, so you can keep using your whiteboard while AI works. You'll see the AI loader on the canvas until your new variant is ready.
What you get#
Every import creates a brand new variant. Your existing work is never touched or overwritten - the variant you were on stays exactly as it was, so you can compare the two side by side or delete the import if it isn't what you wanted.
Wireslate fills in as much as it can:
- Steps matched to the closest Wireslate component
- Connections between them, following your original flow
- People, conversion rates, costs, and revenue wherever those numbers appear in your source
Anything AI wasn't sure about becomes an Import notes sticky note placed above your funnel. Read it first - it's where assumptions get flagged, like a cost it treated as per-person because your source didn't say whether it was a total.
Everything is fully editable. Treat an import as a strong first draft, then adjust it.
Steps AI doesn't recognize#
When something in your source doesn't match an existing Wireslate component, AI uses a Custom component instead of guessing wrong:
- Custom Traffic Source for an entry point, trigger, or starting step
- Custom Step for anything else in the middle of your funnel
These keep your original label and get a fitting icon from Wireslate's icon library. See Custom components and icons if you want to change them.
Good to know#
- Your file stays private. It's read in your browser and isn't stored by Wireslate. Only the content needed to rebuild your funnel is sent securely to our AI provider
- Loops are removed. A funnel that circles back on itself can't be simulated, so a looping connection is left out and noted in your Import notes
Tips for better results#
- Import into a whiteboard where you're happy to experiment. You'll get a new variant, so nothing is lost either way
- Use the helpful context box for anything the file can't say on its own: what the funnel sells, what an abbreviation means, or which currency the numbers are in
- For screenshots, crop to just the funnel. Less clutter means a cleaner result
- Check the Import notes and your numbers before you rely on the results
